Withdrawal and cancellation

Information on consumers’ right of withdrawal under the Austrian Distance and Off-Premises Contracts Act (FAGG) and our rules on cancellation.

Who this applies to

You register by email, which makes this a distance contract. If you act as a consumer, not for a business, the following applies. For minors, the right is exercised by their parents or guardians.

Right of withdrawal: 14 days

You may withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The period begins on the day the contract is concluded, i.e. when we confirm your registration.

To withdraw, send us a clear statement, for example by email to golden_lyre_competition@beethovengroup.at or by post to Beethoven Conservatory of Vienna GmbH, Mühlgasse 28–30, 1040 Vienna, Austria. You may use the model withdrawal form below, but you do not have to. It is enough to send your statement before the period ends.

The law provides exceptions for leisure services on a fixed date (§ 18(1)(10) FAGG). We do not rely on them: the 14-day right of withdrawal applies to all registrations for the competitions and the festival.

Effects of withdrawal

We refund all payments received from you without undue delay and at the latest within 14 days of receiving your withdrawal, using the same means of payment and free of charge.

If you asked us to start the service during the withdrawal period (for example the assessment of your video), you pay a reasonable amount for the part provided up to your withdrawal (§ 16 FAGG). If the service has been fully provided within the period at your express request and you confirmed that you would lose your right of withdrawal, the right expires (§ 18(1)(1) FAGG).

After the withdrawal period

Once the 14 days have passed, the regulations apply: competition fees are not refunded if you do not take part or do not progress. If the organiser cancels a competition, round or the festival, we refund the fees paid for it in full. For the festival, the terms of participation you receive with your registration apply.

You bear your own travel and accommodation costs; we recommend travel insurance with cancellation cover.
